Trump Administration Delays Enforcement Of New Abortion Rule

District of Columbia — In a notice sent to health clinics by the Department of Health and Human Services, the Trump Administration is allowing clinics more time to get into compliance with a new rule that says taxpayer funded health providers cannot refer women for abortions.

According to the notice sent Saturday night, providers now have until August to submit a compliance plan to HHS and mid-September to demonstrate they are in compliance. After the new rule was decided, Planned Parenthood decided to forgo federal funding and defy the new rules. Planned Parenthood also said they will challenge the rule in federal court.
